    Article summary

    We’ve added an AI Chatbot to our DEX platform at app.controlup.com. The chatbot enables you to use natural language to interact with the stored data for Endpoint & Apps and UC&C so you can access information and metrics and not be limited to the existing reports. The bot presents results most suited to the user’s requests, and these could be natural language content, a table/grid or different types of charts.

    To use the AI Chatbot, click ControlUp AI in the top-right corner when you are in the Devices or Unified Communications areas of the DEX platform. You must have the permission Access Chatbot and a Physical Endpoints & Apps Advanced license.

    Requests and Responses

    There are several requests that appear in the chatbot out-of-the-box. These are based on AI analysis from user input. You can select one of those requests or type in your own. You can also further refine your request with the Suggestions on the right of the response.

    The more detailed the requests you enter the better. If your conversation with the bot gets off track, open a new conversion and ask the same question again.

    Historical Data and Timeframes

    Our chatbot analyzes your entire historical data, and not just recent events. Therefore, you might notice some discrepancies between its responses and the information displayed in the user interface's dashboards and reports.

    We recommend specifying the time frame of your requests. For example, ask about the number of active Windows devices over the past week. This helps ensure more accurate and relevant responses.

    Response Options

    Your response opens in a window with several options.

    At the top right of the response window:

    • You can select to View Result (default) or View Query to see the actual query created from your request.

    At the bottom of the result window:

    • Use the thumb up or thumb down icons to give us feedback on whether the response was helpful. We need this feedback to improve our AI and the quality of the responses.
    • Download your response as a csv file using the Export button.
    • Copy the response to your clipboard using the Copy button.

    Known limitations and considerations

    • The AI Chatbot currently works only with ControlUp for Desktops data, concentrating on devices, calls, processes, installed applications and Windows events (for example app crashes).
    • The AI Chatbot is currently limited to a single query per request. For example, no cross table queries or very complex queries can be done in a single DB request.
    • Our AI chatbot is currently undergoing training and has not yet mastered the full scope of the data we gathered. As a result, it might occasionally return incomplete or inaccurate responses, particularly when interpreting specific metrics you inquire about. We are diligently enhancing and refining our algorithms, so if there's something the chatbot can't handle right now, it's likely it will be able to in the near future.
