# Agent Installation Overview

This article describes how to deploy the ControlUp for Desktops Agent.

## Prerequisites

Before you deploy the Agent onto your devices, read the [prerequisites for Agent deployment](/tim-reorg/docs/prerequisites-for-agent-deployment) and make sure your environment is ready.

## Download and install the Agent

## Agent manager and version control

For Windows and macOS devices, you install an Agent Manager which installs the Agent according to your [version control settings](/v1/docs/agent-version-control). By default, the Agent Manager installs the latest GA version of the Agent.

## Agent distribution

To distribute the Agent, use any of the following methods:

- Distribute the Agent, tenant name, and device registration code through an internal file share solution.
- Distribute the Agent as an application, using a management solution such as [Microsoft Intune](/v1/docs/controlup-deployment-with-microsoft-intune), Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, or [JAMF](/v1/docs/deployment-with-jamf).
- Copy the Agent into a master image used to provision new devices for users.
