Agent Installation Overview

Prev Next

This article describes how to deploy the ControlUp for Desktops Agent.

Prerequisites

Before you deploy the Agent onto your devices, read the prerequisites for Agent deployment and make sure your environment is ready.

Download and install the Agent or Agent Manager

The Agent Manager is available for Windows and macOS, which automatically installs the Agent and keeps it updated according to your version control settings. By default, the Agent Manager install the latest GA Agent version. The Agent Manager is automatically kept up to date with the latest version.

If you would rather manage Agent versions using your own software you can directly install the Agent instead of the Agent manager. If you do this, make sure you disable ControlUp’s built-in version control system. When it is enabled, Windows and macOS Agents automatically install the Agent Manager.

To download the Agent or Agent Manager, go to Devices > Configuration > Downloads.
Accessing the Downloads section

Installation

During installation of the Agent or Agent Manager, you must provide your tenant name and device registration code. For some operating systems, installation commands are provided on the Downloads page and are prepopulated with your tenant name and device registration code. They are ready for you to copy and run.

You can find your tenant name and manage your registration codes by going to Devices > Configuration > Agent Registration.
