Signing into ControlUp with SAML normally requires an email address. In some cases, however, you might want to sign in with a user account that doesn't have an associated email address in your IdP (for example, an administrator account).
To sign in with a user that does not have an email address, configure your IdP to send the ID of the user's ControlUp account (in the format something@example.xyz) in the email attribute. For example:
If no email address is received in the emailaddress attribute, then ControlUp uses the ID in the email attribute to sign in the user.
