With these changes, macOS 27 is now **officially supported**. #### Changes - The macOS Agent Manager installer is now distributed as a `.pkg` file instead of a `.dmg`. This fixes an issue that caused the tenant information step of the installer to not appear when you manually performed a fresh install on macOS 27. #### Known issues - Manually running the Agent Manager installer over an existing installation on macOS 27 displays a generic administrator access request prompt for **InstallerRemotePluginService-arm64 (Installer)** instead of a prompt with the ControlUp icon and branding. The prompt allows the installer to read the current tenant and device registration code and prefill them. ### Agent 2.18.3.4102 - September 20, 2026 > [!WARNING] > Requirement for MDM deployments > > If you deploy using an MDM, you must deploy new configuration profiles before upgrading to 2.18 or else **critical features such as remote control will stop working**. [Download the latest configuration profiles here](/v1/docs/configuration-profiles-for-mdm-deployment). > > 1. Replace the **existing** configuration profile `RemoteControl.mobileconfig` to the latest version. > 2. Add the following **new** configuration profiles: > 1. `Background.mobileconfig` > 2. `WifiMonitorFullDisk.mobileconfig` > 3. `FileBrowserFullDisk.mobileconfig` > 3. After adding the profiles above and upgrading your Agents, you can now remove `ScreenRecording.mobileconfig` as it is no longer used in version 2.18. > > If you use our Jamf integration, you can use the [**redeploy button**](https://support.controlup.com/docs/deployment-with-jamf#how-to-update-configuration-profiles) to push the **new** configuration profiles but `RemoteControl.mobileconfig` **will not be automatically updated**. You must manually download it and upload it to Jamf. > [!WARNING] > Additional user prompt during remote control > > When you upgrade to version 2.18, end users will receive a new user prompt to allow access to ControlUp during remote control file retrieval. You can prevent this by deploying configuration profiles using an MDM tool. ### New Features #### File Browser You can now use the file browser to remotely browse and manage files on a user's Mac. You can: - Download and upload files - Move, copy, or delete files - Create folders > [!NOTE] > Full file browser access requires configuration profiles deployed through MDM tool > > The file browser can access TCC-protected folders (such as Desktop, Documents, and Downloads) only on MDM-managed Macs with all the new configuration profiles deployed. If you don’t use an MDM tool, you are unable to access these folders. #### Process List You can now view all active processes on a remote Mac, updated every second. - **Granular metrics**: Monitor CPU, Memory, and Disk/Network I/O per process, with Read/Write breakdown available on hover. - **Deep inspection**: Drill down into threads, loaded modules, and executable metadata. - **Remediation**: Kill frozen or unauthorized processes instantly using the End Process command. ### Fixes #### Inventory & reporting fixes - **Wi-Fi SSID and BSSID reporting improved** - Fixes incorrect SSID/BSSID values being reported. - **Installed applications list** - Fixed an issue causing the list of installed applications to appear empty due to a column name mismatch between Mac and Windows schemas. As part of this fix, install dates are recorded under the `iso_install_date` field in the `installed_apps` data index (previously `installdate`). - **Memory usage reporting fixed** - Memory usage now correctly reflects what macOS Activity Monitor shows, broken down into Application, Compressed, and Wired components. - **Built-in display serial numbers suppressed** - Internal Mac monitor serial numbers (e.g. built-in Retina displays) are no longer reported because macOS always assigns an identical placeholder value for these displays. - **Service list refresh improved** - The list of installed services is now updated more frequently. - **Crash reporting added** - The agent now captures and reports application crash data in the `win_event_log` data index. A new `platform` field identifies the OS platform for the crash. - **UPN detection improved** - The agent now collects User Principal Name (UPN) from Directory Services and other applications on the device. This makes employee detection more reliable for the Employees dashboards - **Custom location by IP range fix** - Using [0.0.0.0/0 as an IP override range](/v1/docs/device-geolocation#manage-location-privacy) now correctly matches all device IP addresses, so custom location assignments apply as expected. - **Built-in script audit index restored** - The `builtin_script_audit` index is re-enabled, restoring the full script audit trail that was disabled in a prior release. This index contains information about scripts that are built-in to the Agent. - **CPU name reported correctly** - Apple M series chips now have their name stored correctly in the `hw_cpu_name` field. - **Script name reported in device events** - When auditing script events in the Device Events view, script events now record the name of the script that was executed. - **Battery charge reporting** - Some devices with no battery were displaying 0% charge instead of correctly reporting ‘No Battery’. #### Stability & Bug Fixes - **Agent crash fixes** - Resolved multiple issues that could cause the Agent to crash. - **Network QoS window no longer appears unexpectedly** - Fixed an issue causing a "ControlUp Network QoS" window to appear. - **Launching remote session as active user fixed** - Improved reporting of active users to fix an issue launching a remote session as a logged in user. - **App crash reporting fix** - Resolved an issue causing app crashes to not display in the Employee dashboards. - **Remote control consent fix** - Resolved an issue causing users to be unable to allow the necessary OS settings for remote control. #### Employee Sentiment Survey fixes - **Active user detection improved** - Fixed an issue that could prevent surveys from appearing. - **Survey interaction tracking improved** - Each survey stage (such as received, notified, snoozed, completed) is now recorded in the user_sentiment_visits data index. - **Survey links fixed** - Fixed an issue causing links inside surveys to not work correctly. - **Removed zoom on image hover** - Removed the hover zoom effect on survey images, which could cause them to appear blurry or distorted. ### Agent Manager 2.18.2.3268 - July 21, 2026 - Added support for new device registration codes generated by a stronger, more secure algorithm. ### Agent Manager 2.18.1.3259 - March 30, 2026 - Fixed an issue causing the Agent Manager to crash. - Updated how the Agent Manager handles a [spread-out installation period in your version control settings](/v1/docs/agent-version-control#advanced-options) to prevent unnecessary calculations and confusing log messages. - Added support for a new tenant authentication method to be used for future Agent versions. ### Agent Manager 2.18.0.3252 - March 16, 2026 - Added support for native deployment of the ControlUp for Compliance Agent. This new deployment option is not yet available to use. The ControlUp for Compliance release notes will be updated when the feature is available. ### Agent 2.17.5.2942 - August 10, 2025 #### **Features** - The following Agent settings are now customizable in the [Extended Settings](/v1/docs/extended-settings) page: - **CPU Idle Threshold** - A device’s CPU is considered to be idle if it is below the set CPU usage percentage threshold. This affects the **Run only when idle** option for scripts. - **Process Monitoring Threshold % (CPU)** - Sets the CPU usage threshold for a process to be named in the CPU Usage chart when viewing details for a device. These processes are in the _highresourceprocs data index. - **Process Monitoring Threshold % (Memory)** - Sets the Memory usage threshold for a process to be named in the Memory Usage chart when viewing details for a device. These processes are in the _highresourceprocs data index. - The Agent can now use Wi-Fi information to determine a device’s location. - Remote Control security improvements. - Support for macOS 26. #### **Fixes** - Fixed an issue causing Agent installations to fail. - The ‘Run Command’ action wasn’t working when running a command as a logged in user. - Improved UPN detection reliability. - Improved Remote Control reliability. #### **Known issues** - When you uninstall the Agent, the network filter for monitoring UCC call metrics and network bytes per process is still enabled. - Some external monitor serial numbers aren’t recorded correctly. - If you upgrade the Agent during an active Microsoft Teams call, the Agent doesn't resume collecting data for that call. Call data collection will resume normally on the next Teams call. ### Agent 2.17.0.2809 - May 25, 2025 #### New Features - The System Events log now contains full details when a script is executed on a device. #### Fixes - Scripts writing to a custom data index reporting the wrong date and time. - Some session login information was not recorded correctly. - The Agent was uploading data as the wrong data type to the following fields in the url_domains index: - duration_ms - ad_device_groups - ad_user_groups ### Agent 2.16.0.2562 - February 17, 2025 #### New Features - **Remote control improvements**: Due to recent changes by Apple, which deprecated the previous method for screen capture, we have made updates to our remote control capabilities to ensure seamless remote access. Note that this change requires end users to **agree to a new user prompt** to give the Agent permission for Remote Control when a device updates to version 2.16. - **Data collection for connected monitors**: Comprehensive reporting on all connected monitors, including display resolution, orientation, and more. - **Enhanced capturing of installed apps data**: Now including the install date for installed applications. - **Foreground app friendly name reporting**: Devices in a locked state will now report the foreground app friendly name "Locked" instead of "Loginwindow". - **New process monitor metrics**: - averageworkingset_long (MEMORY.AVERAGE) - kernelcputime_long (CPU.KERNEL) - Peakworkingset (MEMORY.PEAK) - readbytes ([BYTES.READ](http://BYTES.READ)) - totalcputime ([CPU.TOTAL](http://CPU.TOTAL)) - usercputime_long (CPU.USER) - writebytes (DISK.BYTES.WROTE) ### Agent 2.15.0.2203 - October 27, 2024 #### New Features - Support for macOS Sequoia (version 15). - Agent collects additional data about processes, active applications, and UPNs to match data collection for the Windows Agent. - Added a tooltip in the Employee Sentiment survey response window to inform respondents when they are completing a non-anonymous survey. #### Fixes - Improved QoS network filter installation and removal. - Some Remote Control sessions were showing a blank screen. - Caps lock wasn’t working in Remote Control sessions. - Remote Shell sessions now start in the root folder. - Agent was opening too many websocket connections. - The following network IO data was missing for processes: - network_bytes_total - network_total_bytes_out - network_total_bytes_in - Improved process stop/start data collection. - Sometimes the Agent would not report an active user, preventing an administrator performing actions on the device - Renamed the executable for Employee Sentiment surveys to “ControlUp Survey Toaster” - Anonymization of User Principal Name in app_focus. - Send correct console user for first update after Agent start. - Inconsistent foreground application capture. ### Agent Manager 2.15 - October 1, 2024 #### New Features - Added support for new Agent version control settings to control the timing of Agent installation. ### Agent 2.14.1.1860 - July 28, 2024 #### Fixes - Agent constantly prompts for access on data folder. - Unable to install Network filter on OSX 12&13. - Network Filter does not capture any UCC data. - Network Content filter (QoS) seems to be blocking file downloads. - Device is prompted to Allow QoS filter even if it is disabled in extended settings. ### Agent 2.14.0.1802 - June 28, 2024 Note: Upgrading to version 2.14 requires end users to agree to prompts for: - Installing and using a network filter to collect UC&C data from Teams and to capture network bytes used per process. - Requesting data from Chrome and Safari to collect active URLs for End User Activity Monitoring. You can prevent these user prompts from appearing by using [Extended Settings](https://support.controlup.com/docs/extended-settings). If you prevent the user prompts, then Agent doesn’t collect the additional data unless you have allowed the Agent by some other method such as an MDM solution. #### New Features - Added support for the new Sentiment feature for delivering customized surveys. [Learn more](https://support.controlup.com/docs/user-sentiment). - UC&C data from Microsoft Teams is now collected by the agent, letting you see additional minute-by-minute metrics when you drill down into the details of a Teams call. You can also view calls in the [Live Callers Dashboard](https://support.controlup.com/docs/live-callers-dashboard) to view real-time performance of active calls. The new metrics include network information for audio/video and MOS (Mean Opinion Score), which is a standardized metric for VoIP call performance. - URL domains are now recorded for End User Activity monitoring. This lets you use the End User Activity dashboard to monitor which URLs your end users on Mac devices are actively using. - Process Stop data is now aligned with the format for Windows devices to allow combined reports across platforms. - Added an Extended Setting to prevent the user prompt for location collection. Location data can still be collected if enabled by another method such as an MDM solution. - Improved compatibility with some MDM solutions by changing the UserAgent from a command line executable to an application. This makes it easier to target MDM policies. - Improved data upload efficiency. - Agent now records network bytes used per process. - Updated Agent geolocation logic to support custom locations by IP ranges. [Learn more](https://support.controlup.com/docs/extended-settings#custom-device-location-by-ip-range). - Support for custom messages to appear when the device is rebooted from Edge DX.
