# Moving from Hybrid Cloud to On-Premises

If you decide to move from the ControlUp hybrid cloud to on-premises, be aware that this will cause a loss to some of ControlUp hybrid cloud features and you will need to arrange additional resources to your network infrastructure. Review the [On-Premises Installation Prerequisites](/on-premises/docs/on-premises-installation-prerequisites-at-a-glance-for-8-1-and-higher) article.

Visit the following article to learn more about the ControlUp modes, the deployment and feature comparison matrix [ControlUp Modes](/on-premises/docs/controlup-modes)

          Note

If you decide to move from hybrid cloud to on-premises mode, you will need a new license. Inform your ControlUp sales representative about your decision.

Moving to on-premises requires the following steps:

- If you want to keep the current organizationname, you will need to save the current configuration file which is located in the ***%appdata%\ControlUp\Configuration*** folder. Usually the file extension will be *.v4.xml
- If you want to create a new organization, you will need to do the following:
  - Issue a new organization name.
  - Remove ControlUp Agents from all managed machines.
- Contact your ControlUp account manager or our support team at [support@controlup.com](mailto:support@controlup.com) to obtain an on-premises license file.
- Install new dedicated servers as instructed in installation prerequisites article:
  - [On-premises Server](/on-premises/docs/getting-started-with-controlup-on-premises)
  - [Insight on-premises server](/on-premises/docs/insights-on-premises-virtual-appliance)
  - [A new SQL instance](/on-premises/docs/sql-server-prerequisites-for-on-premises-installation)

After completing all of the above:

1. If you created a new ControlUp Organization, remove all ControlUp Agents. If the name of the organization is not changed, you do not need to remove the ControlUp Agents
2. Uninstall the ControlUp Monitor
3. Uninstall the ControlUp Real-Time DX Console

Then install ControlUp on-premises according to the [installation guide](/on-premises/docs/getting-started-with-controlup-on-premises)

*When installing the ControlUp Real-Time DX Console, a best practice is to assign a dedicated AD group as owner. For more information, read the [Security Policy for Users and Permissions – Best Practices](/on-premises/docs/security-policy-for-users-and-permissions-best-practices#best-practice-1-%E2%80%93-set-a-group-of-users-as-organization-owners-instead-of-a-user)
