# Tenant Manager Overview

## What is Tenant Manager

ControlUp’s **Tenant Manager** is a platform designed specifically for MSPs and multi-tenant customers. It serves as a central platform that allows you to view , configure and manage all tenants and their associated organizations from a single account.

With Tenant Manager, you can:

- **Allocate licenses** and distribute them among organizations.
- **Monitor usage** and permissions centrally across all linked organizations.
- **Track product usage** across tenants.

By consolidating data from tenants, monitored entities and tenant-specific metrics, Tenant Manager helps you manage multiple organizations efficiently and reduces the need to switch between tenants.

### Key capabilities

- **Instant tenant login**: Access any tenant organization directly from the Tenant Manager dashboard — no secondary authentication required.
- **Unified view of tenant usage**: Monitor ControlUp usage across all tenants, including sub-tenants and monitored entities, via summary widgets.
- **Centralized audit log**: View all audit events from tenant organizations in a single log.
- **Web login to** **the Real-Time DX Console**: Access any RTDX sub-tenant directly from Tenant Manager as an Admin.
- **Custom RBAC Roles per Tenant**: Create and manage custom roles with organizational-level permissions, for precise access control.
- **Subscription and license management:** Manage the Tenant Manager subscription, add/remove tenants, and reallocate licenses as needed.
- **Tenant creation wizard**: Add tenants using a guided, step-by-step workflow.

### Roles and Permissions
- **Creation**: Only an Admin (for eligible accounts) can create a Tenant Manager account and assign initial roles to tenants.
- **Sub-tenants**: Once the Tenant Manager is created, tenants can create their own sub-tenants.
- **Access control**: Access to organizations within the Tenant Manager is RBAC-based.
- **Precedence**: Tenant-specific settings remain unchanged, unless a conflict occurs with Tenant Manager settings (for example, license allocation). In such cases, Tenant Manager settings take precedence and are enforced.
