Insights Aggregation Logic

In order to properly understand your ControlUp Insight, it's important to understand the data presented which means understanding how ControlUp Insights aggregates your historical analytical data. 

24 Hours 

The first level is the raw data. The 24 hour view presents a data point every 5 minutes. Data at this level is very granular. This view can be seen for 2 days within Insights.

Greater than 2 days view will result in querying of the Weekly data tables as illustrated below. You can see how the line "flattens" or smooths out.

Weekly

First aggregation level is the weekly view. For the weekly table data is aggregated at 30 minute intervals. This is the average of each 5 minute data point averaged over the 30 minute period. This view can be seen for 7 days within Insights.

Greater than 7 days view will result in querying of the Monthly data tables as illustrated in the image below. Again you can see how the line "flattens" with the change in aggregation points.

Monthly

Second aggregation level is the Monthly view. For the monthly table data is aggregated at 1 hour intervals. This is the average of each 30 minute data point averaged over the hour. This view can be seen for 30 days within Insights.

Greater than 30 days view will result in querying of the Yearly data tables as illustrated in the image below.

Yearly

Final aggregation level is the Yearly view. For the yearly table data is aggregated at 1 day intervals. This is the average of each days 24 data points.
