This article describes how you can sign in to the VDI App through DEX if you are using a version of the Real-Time DX Console lower than 9.0. Note that for versions lower than 9.0, you can't sign in to the VDI App using a DEX account (email address), and enabling or disabling the login method Sign-in to VDI & DaaS with LDAP will have no effect.

If you are not using SAML SSO, a user must register their account with your VDI & DaaS environment before they can access the VDI App. A user can do this by either:

Signing in with SAML SSO

If a user has registered with your ControlUp organization using one of the methods above, they can sign in with SAML if the following attributes are sent by your IdP:

  • emailaddress
  • givenname
  • surname
  • upn

You can automatically register an account for a new user who signs in with SAML by configuring your IdP to send the following attributes. Users added with this method will have permission to access your VDI & DaaS enviornment if they belong to an Active Directory group that has been given permission to Use Web Application or Manage Solve in your Security Policy. After the user account has been created, a ControlUp admin can give the user the relevant permission.
