Log into ControlUp - Version 8.7 and Above

Version 8.7 includes many security enhancements to ensure that unauthorized users cannot access ControlUp or your ControlUp environment. If you are upgrading from a previous version of ControlUp, you must ensure that the first user to upgrade and log into version 8.7 is the organization owner.  

First Login with Version 8.7 of the Real-Time Console

After the organization owner upgrades and logs into an organization that is running version 8.7 of the Real-Time Console, all subsequent user logins to that organization must be with version 8.7 of the Real-Time Console.

If your organization has made the upgrade to version 8.7, but you want to continue using an earlier version of the Real-Time Console, contact support@controlup.com.

Previously Authorized ControlUp Users - First Login to Version 8.7 of the Real-Time Console

All previously authorized users of ControlUp have automatic approval for their first login to version 8.7 of the Real-Time Console.

Subsequent logins by all users into version 8.7 of ControlUp require one-time passcode (OTP) verification. See below for more details.

New ControlUp Users - First Login to Version 8.7 of the Real-Time Console

A new user, who has not previously logged into ControlUp, must first be authorized to log into ControlUp. Refer to Manage ControlUp Organization Membership and User Login Access for more details.

Log into ControlUp

Once you have created your ControlUp user account, you can log into ControlUp.

When you launch ControlUp, the Select a ControlUp organization dialog box is displayed, presenting you with two options for proceeding:

Starting with Version 8.7, every user login to the Real-Time Console requires authentication by OTP. This security enhancement prevents unauthorized access to the Real-Time Console by preventing unauthorized acquisition of access permissions.

You are asked to verify your login by OTP approximately every 14 days.

Select a ControlUp Organization and Log In

  1. In the the Select a ControlUp organization dialog box, select the ControlUp organization you want to work with.

  2. Click Continue.

When you attempt to log into a ControlUp organization, your user privileges in that organization are checked, based on your email address.

The privileges check determines whether you can access the organization.
If you are a:

  • User with privileges - you can access the organization.
  • User without privileges - you cannot access the organization.

User with Privileges

If you have user privileges in the organization you are trying to log into, ControlUp sends you an OTP verification email and the 2-Step Verification dialog box is displayed. The OTP verification email is sent to the email address you used to register as a new user of ControlUp.

To continue with the login process, follow the steps below:

  1. Check if you received the OTP verification email. If you received the email, proceed to Step 2. If you did not receive the email, click Resend passcode to try again.
Note

Depending on your email provider, the verification email may be flagged as spam and not appear in your inbox. Before clicking Resend passcode, check if the email is in a spam or junk folder.

  1. In the 2-Step Verification dialog box, enter the passcode you receive by email.
  2. Click Continue.

User without Privileges

If you do not have user privileges in the organization, you are not be able to log in. The ControlUp login error message displays indicating you are not authorized to access ControlUp and instructing you to contact your ControlUp administrator.

The ControlUp administrator must authorize new users. For more information about authorization of new users, refer to Manage ControlUp Organization Membership and User Login Access.

Create a new ControlUp Organization and Log In

When you create a new ControlUp organization, you are the organization owner by default. For information about adding users to to your organization, refer to Manage ControlUp Organization Membership and User Login Access

  1. In the the Select a ControlUp organization dialog box, select <Create new Organization>.
  2. Click Continue. The Create a ControlUp Organization dialog box is displayed.
  3. Provide a name for the new organization.
  4. Click Continue. ControlUp sends you an OTP verification email and the 2-Step Verification dialog box is displayed. The OTP verification email is sent to the email address you used to register as a new user of ControlUp.
  5. Check if you received the OTP verification email. If you received the email, proceed to the next step. If you did not receive the email, click Resend passcode to try again.
  6. In the 2-Step Verification dialog box, enter the passcode you receive by email.
  7. Click Continue.
