How to Run Monitors in Azure

Prev Next

The following checklist describes some of the tasks you can perform to ensure the smooth operation of a ControlUp Monitor deployed in an Azure environment.

If you configure security groups to allow communication between ControlUp Monitors and Agents, we recommend that you use the following checklist to make sure the Monitors run properly:

  • Verify that the incoming ports 40706 and 443 are open on the monitor machines.
  • Verify that ports 443 and 40706 from Real-Time DX Console and ControlUp On-premises (COP) monitors can reach the AZ monitor VM (Network Security Group).
  • Provide the AZ monitor VM with a public IP address.
  • Add the FQDN of the AZ monitor VM to the COP Real-Time DX Console hierarchy.
  • Add a DNS zone in AZ for the onmicrosoft.com domain.
  • Add a record for the AZ VM monitor machine.
  • Verify that the AZ monitor is the master monitor, because if the COP monitor becomes the master monitor, then the AZ monitor is flagged as unreachable.

If your monitors don’t run properly, you can also try the following:

  • In Azure, create a VPN to reach on-premises components.
  • In the console's Monitors Settings, add credentials for the AZ monitor.
  • Add a second site to assign the AZ monitor to.
  • Configure trust between the two domains.
