    Article Summary

    New Data Pipeline

The following article covers this report as you see it from the new data pipeline. Some features described are visible only when viewing the new report format. For details on the new data pipeline for reports and how to view legacy reports, see VDI and DaaS Reports.
For this iteration, you can view the On-Premises reports and Top Insights reports only in legacy format.

The Logon Duration report shows the performance of the logon process by displaying the distribution of logon duration metrics for each logon phase during the selected time period. By default, the selected time period is the last 24 hours. You can also use the report to compare the organizational logon duration statistics to average metrics gathered from the ControlUp Insights global community.

The report answers questions such as:

    • How fast does the logon process in my network perform compared to the global average?
    • What is the difference between the logon duration in peak and off-peak hours?
    • Which phase of the logon process accounts for the largest share of the total logon duration?

    Insights Reports
If you use Insights, the data is the same as what’s described here but we recommend you view reports in Solve or app.control.com.

    Report Functionality

The report provides the following functionalities:

    • Displays data in two views:
      • By folder. View data for all managed machines in a specific ControlUp folder. By default, the report displays logon duration data for your entire organization.
      • By machine. View data for a specific managed machine(s).
    • You can select the Exclude results greater than checkbox to exclude results from the charts greater than any number of seconds you define.
    • You can click a bar in the charts to view the minimum, average, and maximum values for each data series, and the number of instances that the series are based on.
    • You can click Show Session Activity on a bar to view the Session Activity Report of the process on the selected machine(s).
    • You can click a data series name on the bottom of the chart to highlight or toggle the series on the charts.

The report displays the following charts:

    Logon Duration

Use the Logon Duration widget to monitor the average duration of the entire logon process. The chart displays bars measuring the logon duration in seconds for each time interval according to the selected time period. Logon duration data can help you optimize the performance of your system by showing how long it takes users to complete entire logon processes.

    Number of User Logons

Use the Number of User Logons widget to monitor the average amount of user logons. The chart displays bars measuring the total number of user logon events for each time interval according to the selected time period. User logon data can help you optimize the performance of your system by showing how many user logons occur.

    Profile Load Time

Use the Profile Load Time widget to monitor the average duration of the user profile load during login. The chart displays bars measuring the profile load duration in seconds for each time interval according to the selected time period. Profile load time data can help you optimize the performance of your system by showing how long it takes user profiles to load.

    Group Policy Load Time

Use the Group Policy Load Time widget to monitor the average duration of the group policy load during login. The chart displays bars measuring the group policy load duration in seconds for each time interval according to the selected time period. Group policy load time data can help you optimize the performance of your system by showing how long it takes group policies to load.

    Desktop Load Time

Use the Desktop Load Time widget to monitor the average duration of the desktop initialization load during login for full desktop sessions. The chart displays bars measuring the desktop load duration in seconds for each time interval according to the selected time period. Desktop load time data can help you optimize the performance of your system by showing how long it takes desktops to complete initialization.

    Logon duration – Other

Use the Logon duration – Other widget to monitor the average duration of the phase during which logon scripts, profile management solutions, and other components are initialized. The chart displays bars measuring the logon duration of these components in seconds for each time interval according to the selected time period. This data can help you optimize the performance of your system by showing how long it takes to complete all other logon processes not included in the charts above.
