Tags Management is a centralized way to organize your resources throughout the ControlUp platform.
For the current version of this feature Synthetic Monitoring is the only product utilizing the centralized tags. We intend to build upon this feature and expand it throughout the platform.
Permissions
- To create, edit, edit, or delete tags you must have the permission Manage Tags.
How tags works
Tags are "Key-Value" pairs. After you define a tag key and it's possible values, you can apply the tags to resources within ControlUp.
Tags can be used for organizing and filtering resources.
1. Create tags
To create tags:

Navigate to Settings > Tags Management.

Click Add tag.

Enter the tag key and description (optional)

Add Values to that key. Optionally, you can customize the color for each key to help visually distinguish them in the UI.

Click Create Tag
You can create up to 1000 tag keys. Each tag key can contain up to 500 values. The names for keys and values can be up to 1024 charachters long.
2. Apply tags to resources
Synthetic Monitoring Scouts
You can apply a tag to a Scout when creating or editing a Scout:
- Scroll down to the Tags section.
- Click Add tag
- Select the tag to add.
