New Feature

Machine Trends report: You can now select up to 4 different folders from your folder tree to display machine trend data. To display multiple folders, click the folder dropdown menu, then select the checkboxes of the folders you want to view as needed.

Bug Fix

  • 223424: App Usage Details report: The number of Unique Named Users in the Concurrent Application Instances chart matches the number of users in the Usage Details grid.

Known Issue

  • 240339: Session Activity report: The Initial Client IP column doesn’t display the correct address in the report data grid.

New Features

Dashboard reports: You can now export your dashboard data as PDF reports. To export dashboards, click the Export icon. To manage dashboard exports, click the Automated export icon next to the dashboard name.

User Sessions (Citrix): We added the following new column to display the current version of the Citrix Workspace app installed on the client's machine:

  • Citrix Workspace App Version

Automated reports: You can now manage your automated reports by clicking the Automated Reports icon next to the report name.

Sessions Activity report: We added the following new columns to better understand user sessions and enable more effective monitoring of system activity:

  • Last Recorded Activity. Shows the timestamp of the last recorded activity of the session received by a ControlUp Monitor. This column improves monitoring of session activity duration to help track and diagnose user issues.

  • Status. Shows the status of the session when last detected by a ControlUp Agent as Still active, Logged off, or Unknown. This column improves monitoring of session activity status to help diagnose connectivity issues and track user behavior.

Bug Fixes

  • 187862: All user sessions now show the correct data and time range in the new data pipeline User Session Details report charts.

  • 217174: All user sessions now show the correct Logoff Time, Session Duration, and Active Time in report grids.

User Session Details report: You can view details of all the processes running during a user session in the Processes grid. To display the grid, click the Processes icon on the top left of the User Session Details report.

Machine Trends report: We added the following new widgets to display machine trends metrics:

  • User Session Details report: For the charts that display time ranges in the Performance section, you can now click and drag the mouse across a specific time period on a chart to zoom in on that time period. The custom time range you select is applied to all the charts in the report.

  • Citrix OData requests: Citrix OData requests from ControlUp now contain an Accept-Encoding header to support content encoding. Content encoding can strengthen security and optimize bandwidth across the data path.

  • Updated terminology: Every instance of the term Solve has now been updated to Web UI. The only instance of the term Solve may appear in the Audit Log.

User Session Details report: You can now export the report data as a CSV file. To download a CSV, click the Export report icon on the top right of the User Session Details report.

Machine Statistics report: We added the following new columns to the grid to display CPU and memory utilization metrics:

  • CPU Utilization AVG

  • CPU Utilization MAX

  • CPU Utilization MIN

  • Memory Utilization AVG

  • Memory Utilization MAX

  • Memory Utilization MIN

Machine Trends report: We added a Distribution graph per machine to the machine view in the following charts:

  • CPU Utilization

  • Memory Utilization

Azure Drilldowns: You can now drilldown directly to an Azure machine resource from the following widgets in the topology view:

  • Machines (AVD)

  • Machines (Azure)

  • Resource Groups

  • Subscriptions

To drilldown to metrics for a specific Azure machine, select the bar of a machine name in one of the following bar graphs:

  • AVD Machines by Sessions

  • Top Machines by Cost

  • Total Machines by Cost

  • Top Resource Group By Cost

Published App Usage Details report: You can now access the Published App Usage Details report in the new data pipeline.

Machine Trends report: When you click on a data point, you now see the data, including detailed Min, Max & Avg statistics, for the machine, and not of the processes as previously displayed.

Sizing Recommendations report: In the sizing recommendation graph, you can now see the hardware allocation over time along with the suggestion history. This enables you to analyze the performance over time.

When you filter a column in a grid, you can now:

  • Use StartsWith and/or EndsWith to filters strings and identify objects that have similar text. (Released 8/24)

  • Exclude values that are null or empty. This way items with no data are excluded from the filtered selection. (Released 7/24)

Refresh report data: If you select the time frame as 4H or 24H, you can now refresh report data without refreshing your folder, filter, or sorting selections in the data grid. Two minutes after you configure your report selections, the selected time icon indicates that you can refresh data. To refresh the data, click the icon.

Save report time selection: When you switch between different reports, the time range you selected is now saved and applied to each report.

User Session Details report:

  • We added a Processes view to the Gantt chart at the bottom of the User Session Details report. Use the Processes view to identify and analyze the workflow processes within each session launched by the selected user during the selected time range. To enable Processes view, click the Show Session processes toggle at the top of the report.

  • If the selected user launched multiple active applications simultaneously, the Active App view in the Gantt chart of the User Session Details report shows the number of active applications launched during the same time.

  • We now display the client version in the Client Info view in the Gantt chart at the bottom of the User Session Details report, so you can quickly identify the version for each session.

VDI & DaaS Automated Reports have moved - You can now access your Automated Reports settings from the Reports section of the DEX platform. Permissions for Automated Reports are controlled with two new permissions. Manage Personal Automated Reports lets you manage automated reports that you have created. Manage All Automated Reports lets you manage all automated reports, including those created by other users.

Column filters - You can now filter columns in Web UI grids to hide empty text fields. To filter empty items, select the filter icon next to the column name, then choose the Is Not Empty option.

Citrix License Servers - You can now view license consumption metrics for all the Citrix Licenses of your organization's Citrix license servers in the topology view. To view the license consumption metrics, select Citrix Sites > Citrix License Servers.

XenServer support - We now support XenServer 8.0.

Custom widgets - You can now add a custom widget that displays AVD Workspace metrics to your dashboard. To configure a widget to display these metrics, select Workspaces (AVD) from the Metrics field in the Add Widget popup. Additionaly, If you add a custom widget that displays a single statistic to your dashboard, you can now resize it to a smaller size.

HZ Machines drilldown - You can now drill down to all Horizon machines that are currently in maintenance mode in the Desktop Pools topology view. To drill down to the Horizon machines in maintenance mode, click Desktop Pools and select a machine with a positive number in the  HZ Machines in Maintenance Mode column.

The following scripts have been updated in the Community Actions Script Library.

  • Get Pending Reboot (new script) - Check various registry locations to see if a computer rename, domain join/disjoin, Component Based Servicing, Application updates or Windows Update has registered the need for a reboot. Also check if the SCCM client is installed and if so query that for a reboot requirement.
    Use case: As a network administrator, I want to be able to see servers and desktops that have a reboot pending, so that I can track progress of driver patching, operating system updates, and other changes that require a reboot before the change will take effect.

  • Deploy log4net for ControlUp processes (updated script) - This script is now time-sortable.

  • Sync Cloudpager Workpods (updated script) - Updated the autodeploy parameter to the current standard and fixed a typo in the command-line option.

Bug Fixes

  • 199921: Sizing Recommendations report: We updated the threshold from one to seven days from the last time that any CPU configuration was changed before the report suggests any additional changes. This helps gather more metrics and give a more accurate estimation to base the recommendation on. The report no longer continues to recommend allocating more resources to a machine after you’ve already added the recommended resources.

User Session Details report - We added Active App and Active URL views to the Gantt chart at the bottom of the User Session Details report. Use the Active App view to identify and analyze the active applications launched by the selected user during the selected time range. Use the Active URL view to identify and analyze the active URLs connected to by the selected user during the selected time range.

Environment Assessment report - You can now drilldown from the Hosts widget in the Usage and Hosts views of the Environment Assessment report to a Host Statistics report. To drilldown, click AVG in the top-left of the Hosts widget, then click a bar in the Distribution graph to open a Host Statistics report according to the selected bar and metric.

Audit Log Export - You can export an Audit Log report as a CSV file according to the filter and sort options you apply before the export. To export a report, click the Export icon on the top-right of the Audit Log page.

Export to PDF as scheduled report - You can now export to PDF format and schedule these automated reports to be sent when you want and to the recipients you select. Previously scheduling reports was available only when exporting to CSV. The following reports can be exported to PDF for scheduling:

You can click each report name for more details on the content of the report.

Citrix Licensing - You can now view widgets and metrics for your Citrix licenses if you drill down to the Citrix License servers in the Topology view.

Azure Cost Columns - We added the following new columns to display Azure cost metrics:

  • AZ Network Gateway Cost (Month-to-Date)

  • AZ Total Cost (Annual)

Horizon List View - You can view metrics in a list view when you drill down to Horizon Sites items in the Topology view.

Known Issues

  • If a monitor resets, “initial” metrics (e.g. initial branch name, initial client name, initial IP address) might display incorrectly.

  • In the Session Activity report, you can’t filter the Initial Client IP column.
